Breed Overview

British Shorthairs are stocky, round-faced cats with dense plush coats. The blue variety is most popular, but they come in many colors.

Temperament

Calm, undemanding, and dignified. They enjoy being near people but prefer sitting beside you rather than on you.

Health

Prone to obesity — strict portion control needed. HCM screening recommended. Life expectancy: 12-20 years.

Grooming

Weekly brushing for their dense double coat. Heavy spring shedding. Regular nail trimming and ear cleaning.
