Abyssinian Cat: Active & Curious
The Aby at a Glance
Abyssinians are one of the oldest cat breeds, with their ticked tabby coat giving them a wild, fox-like appearance. They're medium-sized, athletic, and incredibly active.
Personality
Abys are not lap cats — they're too busy exploring, climbing, and investigating everything in their environment. They love being involved in whatever their humans are doing.
Exercise Needs
- Daily interactive play sessions of at least 20 minutes
- High cat trees and climbing shelves are essential
- Puzzle feeders and treat-dispensing toys keep them mentally sharp
- Consider leash training for safe outdoor exploration
Social Needs
Abyssinians don't do well alone for long hours. They thrive with another active cat companion or in households where someone is regularly home.
